4 Ways To Make Your Home Autumn - Ready (Hygge Style)

Wednesday, 20 September 2017

Ai-ai-ai, you must be getting SICK of all these Autumnal blog posts... unless you're like me (and 99% of the blogger population) and absolutely love the season and wish it could be Autumn every day.

In that case; I like you, you can stick around.

I'm so excited to have moved out and settled in to my new flat just in time for the new season. You can bet that I'll be going all out with my decorations- and if I get my flat tidied up at some point I might do a little flat-tour...

Here's my list of things you can do/buy to make your home that little bit more autumnal/hygge; whether you live in student halls, or have a massive house to decorate (in which case, GO YOU!!).

1. CANDLES

Candles are an absolute must for the season, imo. They create such a cosy atmosphere, and are just so relaxing. I recently went shopping for some homeware bits and bobs, and oh my god you have no idea how happy I was when I went into TJ Hughes (a bargain store on Argyll Street in Glasgow) to find that they were selling the best Bath and Bodyworks candle dupes. They have a whole range of autumnal and festive scents from 'fall leaves' to 'spiced pumpkin latte', and they burn soo well. IKEA always have lovely (affordable) candles, too.

2. FAIRY LIGHTS

Like candles, I just think fairy lights are so lovely and cosy. They can really brighten up a room in such a simple, minimalistic way. I'm still to find myself a set of affordable fairy lights that will go well in my gigantic-ass bedroom, but the day I do will be a good day!

3. FAUX FUR BLANKETS

I love soft, luxurious throws and blankets... the fluffier the better. A lot of bloggers and youtubers have white faux fur blankets and rugs, but my Autumn colour-scheme in my bedroom largely revolves around greys and browns. A few weeks ago I had a little gander at the homeware section of TK MAXX (We dont have a home sense in Glasgow, sad face) and set my eyes on a lush fluffy brown faux fur throw which just HAD to be mine. J'aime.

4. BUNTING

So, this is only really if you're wanting to REALLY go for the decorations this year (umm, i.e. me). I've been on the hunt for some pretty bunting that I can hang up in my flat just to brighten it up a little bit... and honestly autumn couldn't have come at a better time, lol. I found this gorgeous handmade autumn leaf bunting on etsy, which I am so in love with. It says that it's for weddings, but is it really such a crime if I just use it in my bedroom?

How will you be decorating your house this Autumn?

Adios, xo

  3. Lovely post, I will be getting out all the candles, pillows and blankets myself for a cozy hygge feeling. I actually have my faux fur throws out all year long even though I live in Italy, but now I can fully appreciate it ;-)

  4. I take out all of these pretty much all year since England is cold. Aside from the bunting. I love a cosy snuggle with my furry blankets!

  5. And flowers with seasonal colors. I buy my wife flowers all the time, but the guilty secret is that I actually like them around myself.

  14. I was good up to the bunting. Not my thing. The rest sound lovely, especially the faux fur. Nothing nicer than cuddling up with a cozy throw.
