Why I'm Not Doing Blogtober

Sunday, 8 October 2017

Yup, I know, I'm a crap blogger. You know what, this isn't even my photo. Shock horror, it's a stock photo. Omg I'm such a failure, right? Wrong.

Blogtober -similar to blogmas- is one big month of seasonal blogging. Only, where blogmas is obviously centred all around Christmas, blogtober is all about Autumn. You know, the whole 'hygge' thing, etc.

Pretty much everyone who's anyone in the blogging community gets behind it. It's a big deal... and I'm not doing it.

Don't get me wrong, I love blogging and I adore autumn; particularly October, which just so happens to be my birthday Month (go me!), but Blogtober just won't be happening on Sara Louisa this year. Tbh, it probably won't be happening next year either.

The thing about being a student blogger who also happens to work full time in order to support myself financially is that when it comes to term-time, I have no time. Quite a few people have left work because of uni, or promotions etc. so there have been a lot of extra shifts flying my way (hello dolla dolla), and tutorials started last week, so it's definitely been interesting trying to juggle it all while also remembering to sleep, eat, socialise, relax... oh, and blog.

You know what, I've actually considered cutting down to just posting once (rather than twice) a week during term time. So let's all just forget the idea of me posting daily for an entire month.

But really, time isn't the only reason I'm not doing blogtober.

As much as I love Autumn, it's a difficult season for me, so I really need to look after my mental health, particularly this month... and putting extra pressure on myself unnecessarily is not the way to do that.

Trust me, this doesn't mean that I'm not going to be loving blogtober as a blogger.

I literally can't wait to read all these lovely posts, and I'm sure it'll be a great month in the blogging community.

I wish you all the best.

Adios, xo

  1. I don't blame you for not participating in Blogtober.. Everyone has their own reasons to take part and to not take part, and I can relate so much in the sense that university and studying has to take a priority! Best wishes lovely x

    1. Thank you so much Amber, I appreciate it so much <3

  2. I'm exactly the same! I'm so impressed by everyone taking part in Blogtober but since I've just started uni, it's not something that I want to get into and I'm so worried that it would suck the fun out of blogging for me

  3. I'm not participating either to be honest, didn't even know it was a thing until like 2 days ago, worst blogger ever right?, I tried blogmas last year and I loved it but I don't think I could do it twice, it's very time consuming.

  4. I 100% feel this. I'm going to attempt Blogmas (planning some ideas ahead of time) but I was just not ready for Blogtober. I'm a full-time grad student and I just don't have enough time. Gotta take time for you!

  5. I don't blame you for not participating, I couldn't this year as I seriously had way too much on my plate. I'm hoping to give it a go next year but no pressure if I dont!
