Sources of Inspiration for 2018

Sunday, 7 January 2018

Hello you lovely bunch!

It's been a while since I last posted on here; two months and 14 days to be exact. Despite my very best intentions of keeping up with posting twice a week over the winter period, it just wasn't manageable. In the midst of things in the early weeks of December I was juggling my biggest deadlines of last semester in uni, as well as working full time hours in a very hectic restaurant in the city centre. Those of you who work/have worked in hospitality over the festive season will know my struggle.

But I'm back now, and I'm so ready to delve right back into the wonderful world of blogging.

I've got a lot to catch up on.

Since I've been away from the blogosphere for a bit of a lengthy time, I've practically had to rebuild my blogging schedule from scratch.

And there have been days where I've really struggled to motivate myself, but it was by experiencing those days that I discovered what inspires me to get out of bed and be productive.

1. TELLING PEOPLE MY GOALS

As goes for the rest of these pointers, I can only speak for myself- but I for one hate letting people down, or not doing something I've told somebody I'm going to do. I'll usually tell my friends that I'm going to write a blog post up that day, and because I've told someone, I'm much more likely to really push myself to do it.

2. KEEPING UP WITH MY FAVOURITE BLOGGERS

Nothing gives me the kick up the ass to work on my blog than seeing my favourite bloggers bossing it out on their sites. Jasmin from Little Things With Jassy is a constant inspiration, as is Jemma from Dorkface, and Molly from Molly Reese.

3. DELVING INTO THE WORLD OF POETRY

So this one is a little bit more obscure, but still extremely relevant to my life and inspiration. I'm sure most of you will be aware of the works of Rupi Kaur, who is an amazing role model as both a woman, and a published poet... but it turns out, there are so many contemporary poets just like Kaur.

Over the past month, I've bought five poetry books, and reading through each of them have given me the strength and motivation to believe that I can accomplish whatever I set my heart on. I could go on about this new found passion for days without end, so watch out... there might just be a post about the books I've bought on the horizon.

4. BEING A PART OF @BDIBCHAT

As part of my aim of being more  present in the blogosphere this year, I've joined the team behind @BDIBCHAT. We host blogger chats twice weekly on Mondays & Fridays at 8pm, and it's just been an absolute pleasure getting to host some of the chats- and being part of such a lovely, motivated team of bloggers!

What inspires you? I'd love to hear back from you!

Adios, xo

  2. It's great to see you back! Sometimes taking a break from blogging really is necessary, especially when you have so many other commitments to keep up with. And it's so cool that you are starting to read/write more poetry - I have loved this form of art for the longest time, and I am sure you will too. Hope you are having a fantastic start to your year!
