Happy Friday, friends!
I hope you have treated yourself well this week.
Grey Fleece High Neck Loungewear Set from Femme Luxe Finery - Available in Sizes S - XL

Today’s post is the first of a 3-part collaboration with the incredible online fashion brand Femme Luxe Finery. During this 3-part collab, I'm going to be sharing three of my favourite comfy and casual looks from the Femme Luxe Loungewear collection, along with a couple nuggets of advice.

Today is International Self Care Day: a global campaign centred around celebrating the importance of responsible self-care.

I know that I speak for not only myself but also most of the people I know when I say that self-care is something we all need to work on. I think that a lot of the time, we as human beings are a lot better at looking out for our friends than we are at looking after ourselves. This is exactly why I love the fact that there is a designated, international day to remind us to do just that.

I've been told that I can be pretty self-deprecating at times- and I have to admit, it's true. However, despite my tendency to knock myself down, I have recently come to the realisation that I deserve to be taken care of... and I deserve to be the one to take care of myself.

Over the past few years, I have experienced the kind of trauma and grief that nobody should have to go through. And, because of certain things happening in my life, I have been through the process of counselling, as well as CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, not to be confused with CBD!).

In the duration of my life, there have been countless times where the load has gotten too hard for me to carry alone. In these moments, I have looked towards my friends, family, and God to help me. There have also been times where I have needed specialist help and guidance, which is when I have had to look towards counselling and therapy to help me get through some more complex, mental-health related issues.

It has been in these moments that I have learned that sometimes, the best way you can care for yourself is by allowing yourself to ask for help.

It has also been in these moments that I have learned that at the end of the day, it doesn't matter who you ask to help you, or how many therapy sessions you go to if you're not willing to put in the hard work and effort it takes to be kinder to yourself.

If I'm being completely honest, loungewear hasn't always been my favourite style. I used to be the kind of girl who was in her element when she has a reason to get dressed up: to the point where my favourite part of a night out genuinely used to be the part where I got myself ready to go out...

It never really occurred to me that it was possible to look good AND be comfortable at the same time- but lockdown has definitely changed that.

Over the past 4-5 months of lockdown (can you believe it's been that long?!), I have slowly -but surely- found myself falling in love with wearing loungewear. I almost feel like I've discovered a new way of life: there's just something so brilliant about being comfortable, but also feeling stylish at the same time. Of course, me being me I've got a full face of makeup on to go with it.

I mean, I had to add some glam somehow.

Although I usually wear a UK women's size S (8-10), I selected this gorgeous, grey fleeced loungewear set in the size M (12/14) because, during lockdown, I have come to realise that oversized & cosy loungewear is PRICELESS

This set actually arrived the day after my period started, and I honestly couldn't have been happier about my choice to go a size up. I don't know about you, but I practically LIVE in oversized clothing during my time of the month. There's really just nothing worse than wearing tight-fit, restrictive clothing when you've got cramps and your stomach is bloating.

I'm also a huge advocate of getting cosy when my period comes (I kind of tend to hibernate with a hot water bottle and some chocolate), and the fleece material used for this loungewear set couldn't be more perfect for doing just that... even if it is supposed to be the middle of summer here in Scotland.

Honestly, it's so soft that I never want to take it off.
And can I just add how well this set goes with my cute wee fluffy rabbit slippers?!

Femme Luxe Finery currently have a '2 for £30' deal on all of their loungewear pieces, so I'd definitely recommend you stock up on some cute new clothes- while you can do it for less! Oh, and did I mention that you can buy this exact loungewear set by clicking this link? The items are currently priced at £19.99 TOGETHER, which is 61% off of the original price, so make sure you snap them up before they're gone!

Also, make sure you stay on the lookout for the next two posts in this collaboration, which will be coming out at 8pm next Friday and at the same time on the 2nd of August!

Until next time...

Adios,
Sara Louisa xo

    1. YES LISA!!! Honestly before lockdown I didn't like loungewear so much, because it made me feel lazy. But I love this set, it's cosy, comfy, and I still feel like I can dress it up a bit for when I'm working from home!

  8. Resonated with this ppst so much. I had no idea that there was an International Self-care Day! Like you said, self-care starts with that recognition that you deserve to take a break. A genuine break from everything. Or that you are worthy of being listened to.

The lounge wear looks so cute and comfy (maybe not in this heat though ).
