Motivate Yourself This September With Some Beautiful Personalised Stationary | Student September | Ad Gifted

Saturday, 19 September 2020

 Happy Saturday guys!

I hope you've been enjoying Student September so far...

If you have read ANY of the other blog posts that I've published on here so far this month, I'm sure you'll know that this month, we are celebrating Student September here on Sara Louisa. I know that student life will feel very alien for many of you (whether you are a new or returning student), so I wanted to create a space for you to read some personal stories, top tips, student hacks AND discounts!!! We've had some fabulous guest writers on the blog this month, but today I wanted to pop back in to talk to you about the cutest notebooks out there on the market right now... and if you read through the entire post, we have a very special 15% off code for you at the very end!

Today's post is Ad Gifted by the wonderful Old English Company, who specialise in gorgeous hand-lettered, personalised stationery & giftware. I was genuinely so excited when they reached out wanting to do this project for me, because I've been a huge fan of their products for years

As I mentioned in the very first Student September post, I am a massive lover of beautiful stationery.

Honestly, places like Paperchase are like heaven to me.

But I know it's not just me. I've had countless conversations with my friends (who are/were also students) about how having beautiful, aesthetically pleasing stationery, motivates them to work harder throughout the academic year. It's true- and if you disagree, that's probably because you've never tried it.

As a child, finding stationery with my name on it was near to impossible... and I remember a couple of occasions where I had received gifts with the name 'Sarah' or 'Zara' on it, because the shops just didn't stock products with my name (Sara) on it.

One of the things I love the most about the Old English Co. is that the personalised lettering on their products is completely customisable; so you're not limited to the 'most popular' names... you can even have your full name on a product if you so wish!

I opted to get the link to my blog (www.saralouisa.co.uk) lettered on my notebook -as you'll be able to see in the photo below- for two reasons:
  1. It's a talking point for any of my friends who might not know that I have a blog (although if they follow me on any of my social media platforms then that's highly unlikely)
  2.  I have a lot of notebooks, so I really wanted to have one that was clearly & explicitly for my blog.

The Old English Company has a really great range of personalised notebooks on their website, each detailing a different quote on the cover. The majority of the notebooks are either matte white, matte black, or matte pink- I opted for a pink notebook because it really fits my aesthetic, and I love how much it stands out.

That being said, if you're not super into pink, or if you're looking to buy a cute gift for someone who isn't a lover of pink like me... don't worry. You still have options.

I really struggled to choose which quote I wanted on the front of my notebook- there were just so many that I wanted to get... but when I saw this one, which says "She believed she could, so she did", I just knew I had to have it.

The truth is, that quote is strangely sentimental to me.

It reminds me of going stationery shopping in Paperchase with my Mum way back in 2016- right before starting my undergraduate degree. I remember her picking up a big a4 notebook with that exact quote on it, and telling me how she thought I would like it.

You know, because I have always had big fat feminist energy, lol.

Almost a year ago my best friend gave me a notebook with that quote on it, too. She gave it to me saying that I was "powerful, inspirational, positive and motivated"; four adjectives that I take great pride in.

So in a lot of ways, this notebook is more personal to me than the lovely team over at the Old English Company could ever have known... and it has already inspired & motivated me to achieve so much.

On a final note, I just wanted to share this lovely little card that the Old English Company slipped into my package, because I think it's bloody brilliant and well worth taking note of... especially for my fellow students of 2020.

By the end of next month, most of you will be in full swing of university life, and I know from experience how easily you can be consumed with lectures, seminars, and deadlines. One of the things I've really struggled with so far during my PGDE is a little monster called 'comparison' -and let me tell you, he is definitely the thief of joy.

Yes, uni can be hard and stressful at times, but it doesn't have to be that way all the time. Make sure you treat yourself when you need a pick-me-up, and give yourself a break when you need one. There's no point in overexerting yourself if you're too tired to take anything in.

And finally, although COVID has definitely put a bit of a damper on each of our social lives, please make sure that you are still socialising with your friends in some way during uni. I know from some of my friends just how easy it can be to cut yourself off because you feel like you're "too busy", but even just taking an hour out each week to go for a walk with a friend can make a huge difference.

If you'd like to buy your very own personalised notebook you can click this link to be taken to the Old English Co. website, and if you'd like this exact notebook, you can click here

Oh, and before I forget, I actually have a very special 15% off code for my readers!! Just type in OESPECBR15 before you check out!

Please let me know what you thought of this post in the comments below.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend!

Until next time...
Adios, Sara Louisa xo

  2. This is a beautiful journal! I love the simple color and the quote on the front would be such a big help in inspiring anything I wrote down. I love that it is not a bullet journal or pre-made diary and leaves room for everything from drawing to creative writing.
    Thanks for sharing!
