Jolie Beauty Second Skin Collection Review | Ad Gifted

Saturday, 10 October 2020

Happy Saturday, friends!
I hope you are feeling beautiful this week.

I haven't always been keen on using blusher. But long gone are the days where we would all pack on an ungodly amount of contour & bronzer every day, and finish off with a heavy matte lipstick. Nowadays, I'm a lot more comfortable with myself, and my makeup routine definitely reflects that. Most days, all it takes is a couple dabs of concealer to brighten my face, a bit of bronzer & blusher to sculpt, and I'm good to go.

It's taken me a while to find an affordable blusher/bronzer combination that sits well on my skin without appearing too harsh, so I was over the moon when Jolie Beauty reached out to me asking if I could review some products from their brand new Second Skin collection.

Jolie Beauty is THE up-and-coming cruelty-free makeup brand that you need to know about. Based in the UK, Jolie Beauty was founded by an amazing team of highly experienced makeup artists.

The makeup world is changing, and the self-love movement has definitely been a catalyst in this. This year, we saw the launch of Selena Gomez's new beauty range Rare, which prides itself on celebrating natural beauty. But the truth is, as much as I would love to trial some products from the Rare beauty collection, it just isn't in my student budget.

The most amazing thing about Jolie Beauty is that they genuinely have something for everyone; whether you're like me and are starting to lean towards natural-looking makeup, or you prefer to go all out with a bold eyeshadow look.

Jolie Beauty's Second Skin range features a collection of vegan & cruelty-free blushers & bronzers, with a lightweight formula that can be built up to suit any skin tone. The Second Skin blushers & bronzers come in a lush rose-gold compact & mirror -which is perfect if you're like me and like to touch-up on the go.

If you hit this link here, you'll see that Jolie Beauty is not only selling their beautiful blushers & bronzers at an affordable price individually... they also have a bunch of great bundle deals if you feel like splashing out.

Trust me, it's well worth it.

I was sent two blushers from their Second Skin collection (in the shades Flushed and Rendezvous), and one bronzer (in the shade Latte). These shades best suit light/medium skin tones, but if you check out the Jolie Beauty website, you'll see that they have a number of blushers & bronzers for darker skin tones.

The first product I want to talk to you about is this gorgeous Second Skin Blusher in the shade 'Flushed'.

'Flushed' is a lovely coral blusher that has slight brown undertones, which means it is perfect for blending with a good bronzer. I'd definitely recommend trying this blusher if you -like me until this year- are a little bit unsure about wearing blusher. It isn't too pink, and you can just use a light brush to enhance your cheekbones and give a natural-looking contour.

Next up is this gorgeous Second Skin Blusher in the shade 'Rendezvous'.

As you can see in the images above, the shade 'Rendezvous' is a slightly more feminine alternative to 'Flushed'. It has gorgeous rose-pink undertones, ideal for a subtle & girly day-time look.

Because of how bright the lighting was in my house when I was doing the photoshoot for this post, the swatches I took of this product don't show up great on screen, but I promise the product did actually show up on my skin! To make sure you got to see the product fully, I tried it out on my face on top of a base of primer, foundation, & bronzer (which I'll talk to you about in a second!)... and I genuinely think I fell in love!

The formula strikes a perfect balance between being heavy enough to have an effect, but not so much so that it looks fake/plastic.

The Second Skin Bronzer I was gifted was in the shade 'Latte', and I genuinely think it is my favourite item out of the trio. As you can see in the photos, I'm naturally quite pale, so finding a warm-toned bronzer that isn't too overpowering can be quite tricky at times.

Similarly to the 'Rendezvous' Blusher, the swatches I did for this product don't really do it justice, so I tested it out on my face under a base of primer & a light touch of foundation, which definitely showed up much better in the photos.

You can find the products listed in today's post on the Jolie Beauty Website, or by clicking any of the three links below:

Do you use a blusher in your daily makeup routine?

Until next time...

  1. Love the shade Flushed! I never used to be a big blusher fan but I think it can really make the difference in making you look healthier and more awake so I love using them now!
